George Fox to receive ‘Green Plaque’

On 22nd June a green plaque will be unveiled remembering Quaker founder George Fox, who was born in the Leicestershire village of Fenny Drayton, near to Hartshill Local Meeting and part of our Area Meeting.

Leicestershire County Council Green Plaques are awarded to people and places in and around the county, nominated and voted for by the public. They are similar to blue plaques in other places.

The green plaque will be unveiled at St Michael and All Angels Church in Fenny Drayton where Fox began to formulate his beliefs. Quakers may like to join the unveiling ceremony from 2-4pm on Thursday 22nd June 2023. Please R.S.V.P. to chairman@leics.gov.uk by Friday 9 June 2023 if you would like to attend.
