Our project Peace Hub is back open after an extended winter break. Coordinator Pete Doubtfire introduces the new theme: Warm Homes, Cool Planet – How can we respond to the energy & climate crises?
Energy prices are rising rapidly and many people are in difficulty paying bills. At the same time, we all know that producing energy by burning fossil fuels is changing our climate, with more extreme weather already being felt.
How can we address the immediate energy crisis, while building a long-term response to the climate crisis?
There are no easy answers, but lots of ideas about how we could do things better: including from our fellow campaigners at Footsteps and Friends of the Earth – and we’d love to hear yours too!
The Hub had to close early for Christmas and open late due to flooding from the water main on Bull St. The downstairs Resource Room is currently being repaired, and we are taking the opportunity to refurbish the room and improve our meeting facilities.
However, the ground-floor is back to normal, and open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 11am and 5pm. Pop into Peace Hub throughout February, March & April 2023 to:
- Find out more about Warm Homes, Cool Planet;
- Learn about Footsteps Energy Champions;
- Take action with Friends of the Earth to Unite for Warmer Homes;
- Get top tips on simple ways to reduce energy use and bills.
