Quakers have had a Meeting House in Coventry from the 1600s. The current Meeting House was built in 1953. Our main room is on the first floor, making access a challenge. Coventry Quakers have been fundraising to upgrade our building and make it fully accessible, for ourselves and for the many community groups that use it.

Work started on schedule at the end of June. Some floor tiles, roof tiles and pottery have been found by the archaeologists and part of a stone wall. 

We expected to find some graves, but there are many, 11 excavated so far. The bones are being transferred to jute sacks with a brass plaque put in each with the date of re-interment. They will be respectfully reburied when the excavation is complete with some Elders present.

We are still able to use the building (without car park and garden) for now.
