An update to include information about courses and an appeal for Claridge House in Surrey, and a reminder that two other Quaker Retreat centres have published their programmes for 2026: Charney Manor in Oxfordshire and Glenthorne in the Lake District both offer courses for Quakers and the public, as well as taking private bookings.

Claridge House, in Lingfield, Surrey offers Quaker-aligned retreats and courses were later added as a sanctuary for guests seeking rest and renewal. They particularly highlight a special Quaker Nature weekend in January combining two restorative two-day courses, designed to immerse participants in the curative power of trees and plants, bursaries available. They are also making an appeal to Friends for funding.

Charney Manor, near Wantage, Oxfordshire offers a “programme of events throughout the year, designed to nourish the spirit and cultivate inner peace”. The 2026 programme includes “Experiencing Shakespeare” led by John Lampen of Stourbridge Meeting in May, and courses on Quaker community, spirituality and our relationship with the Earth.

Glenthorne in Ambleside, Cumbria runs courses run in partnership with Woodbrooke the Quaker learning and research organisation (although courses need to be booked direct with Glenthorne). The 2026 programme includes Quaker history and spirituality, Concerns around the climate crisis, and creativity & the arts.
