Open letter and action on Saturday 20 September in London
Sarah Shaw, who convenes Midlands Green Quakers invites Friends to join witness to ‘Make Polluters Pay’.
On Saturday 20 September at 11.30am at Cavendish Square Gardens, Quakers in Britain and Faith for the Climate invite you to a short interfaith vigil in preparation for the ‘Make Them Pay’ demonstration in the afternoon. The vigil will include reflections from different faiths and close with a period of silence facilitated by Quakers.
We will be holding, in our hearts, minds, words and actions, the day’s demands:
- new taxes for the extremely wealthy;
- a just transition for all;
- polluters must pay for the damage they have caused.

There is a coach travelling from Birmingham, although this will arrive at midday, so not in time for the vigil (£15 return) – details and booking for the coach.
If you aren’t able to attend the vigil and demonstration, there are other ways to get involved. Quakers in Britain invite you to sign an open letter to the UK government, hosted by Faith for the Climate, calling for action to ensure that those most responsible for climate breakdown pay their fair share.
