Trustees

Why would anyone want to be a trustee?

Let’s be honest, serving as a trustee for the Area Meeting isn’t for everyone but it actually may be something you would be suited to, and even enjoy.

The work of trustees in the Area Meeting is to make sure the charity and all its assets are administered in the interests of all of us, now and in the future.

Many people might be put off because they think you have to be an expert in finance, property, employment etc.., or even that you have to be an expert in all of them. Well, you don’t. The great thing about Central England is that trustees have committees that draw in experts in these areas, and we also have a paid member of staff, our Principal Officer, helping us too.

The care of our Area Meeting is the responsibility of everyone in the Area Meeting, and trustees are just the people appointed for a period of time to look at things from a particular perspective. This could mean making sure that the relevant legal information is available or providing support. It can mean asking awkward questions, and also leaving projects alone when they are fine!

Being a trustee is about working as part of a team – actually it’s working as part of many teams, including the trustee body, the committees looking at finance, property etc.., and of course the Area Meeting itself.  We are all guided by the spirit.
