Our Friend Rajan Naidu and his co-defendants are facing trial for action at Stonehenge in June 2024. The trial begins on Monday 20th October at Salisbury Crown Court and may last up to two weeks.
At Area Meeting in September, it was minuted that Friends are welcome to join to give in-person or remote support. There is a WhatsApp group organising court support, please contact Jo Hindley to be added (details in the green membership book).
A fundraiser for out-of-court costs, organised by Fran Wilde, describes the action that Rajan and others are being prosecuted for:
On 19 June 2024, Just Stop Oil supporters, Niamh and Rajan engaged in an action at Stonehenge, to demand the UK government sign up to the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative. They sprayed a small area on three of the megaliths with harmless orange cornstarch powder on the day before the Summer Solstice, and a couple of weeks before the 4 July General Election. Luke was arrested later for his alleged, supporting role in the action.
