Sustainability Update

Updates on our commitment to sustainability: a new document from QPSW & a local consultation on the environment.

New ‘Net-zero’ briefing

Quaker Peace & Social Witness have released a new briefing for Quakers ‘Ending the UK’s contribution to climate change‘.

It’s intended to get Friends up to speed with what’s needed for the UK to reach ‘net-zero’ carbon emissions and use our Quaker voice to help make this happen. It can be used to prepare if you are hoping to speak to your MP or other people in positions of power about this issue.

The Big Green Conversation

ecobirmingham have are encouraging Quakers in Birmingham to add their voice to the ‘Big Green Conversation‘.

2019 has been designated the Year of Green Action by the UK Government, calling on people to join together to protect the environment. A coalition of environmental organisations across Birmingham have set up the Big Green Conversation to gather the views of the whole city.

Feedback will be used to create a People’s Charter for the Environment during the Year of Green Action 2019 (to be published in November) Fill in their short survey and share what kind of city you want to live in.

And for practical action you can take at home, check out our sustainable recipe book ‘Food for Thought‘.
