PEACEMAKERS (West Midlands Quaker Peace Education) is a branch of Central England Area Meeting and is dedicated to promoting peace in schools and communities. It was founded in 1987 and is based above the Peace Hub in Bull St. With nearly 40 years of experience, we work in schools to equip students and staff with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to foster peace.
Our mission is to create peaceful communities by teaching peace through education, focusing on children and young people. We help communities build stronger relationships, resolve conflicts non-violently, and promote justice, inclusion, and non-violence.
In schools, our work improves children’s confidence, empathy, emotional literacy, and conflict resolution skills. It fosters cooperation, respect for diversity, and encourages students to address global issues and challenges. We offer mediation training, develop peace education curriculums, and support schools in adopting restorative approaches.
We are eager to work with new schools in the West Midlands. If you know of any schools that could benefit, please contact us. For more information, visit our website, subscribe to our newsletter, or watch our new animation about peace education.
If you would like someone from Peacemakers to come to your meeting house to talk more about our work, give you a taste of the training or to hear our plans for the future, we are happy to arrange this.
