Outreach and Communications Committee

The remit of the former CEQ Communications Committee was extended to include Outreach at Area Meeting in July 2024, when the terms of reference for a new “O&C” Committee were approved.

The aims of the O&C Committee are:-

  • To encourage, facilitate and spread ideas that support pro-active Outreach and Communications (O&C) by Local Meetings and Branches; O&C that responds to individuals, families and communities within their catchments, and that share and celebrate the life of our Meetings
  • To ensure that Communications within our Area Meeting support in-reach and work for Outreach beyond our Meetings

Local Meetings and Branches are encouraged to appoint an “Outreach Link Friend”, to facilitate networking between Local Meetings, Branches and the O&C Committee.

The objectives of the Committee are to:-

  • Consult Local Meetings, CEQ committees and Branches about their O&C needs and interests, with the aim of meeting these.
  • Collaborate with CEQ office, website administrator and the Local Development Worker in encouraging O&C activity by Local Meetings and Branches.
  • Keep Local Meetings informed of programmes and resources provided by Quakers in Britain
  • Provide Outreach resources for Local Meetings, and assist Local Meetings with developing their skills – to include occasional workshops or training events.
  • Keep Area Meeting informed of the Committee’s work.

The Committee is supported by the CEQ Marketing & Communications Officer (working title, to be confirmed), whose role is to:-

  • Provide communication and marketing services and support across the Area Meeting
  • Act as the lead and advisor on suitable means and platforms for raising awareness about Quaker activities.
  • Increase the profile of Quakers and associated activities across Central England.
  • Develop content for the website, social media and other platforms to promote Quaker priorities.
  • Maintain the CEQ website and central social media accounts (including software and content), ensuring that they are up to date, compliant with policies, good practice, legal and accessibility requirements.
  • Produce the weekly News Feed.
  • Work with other role holders and Friends on projects, such as the Newsletter.
  • Advise staff and volunteers on marketing and communications issues.

The Committee welcomes new members – if you would like to join our group please speak to a member of the Committee.
