A gathering organised by Bull St Quaker Meeting and Central England Quakers, looking at:
- History of Israel / Palestine since the Balfour Declaration,
- The work of ‘Solutions not Sides’,
- Volunteering in Palestine.

We will hear from these speakers, with time for questions and an exchange of views:
Michael was born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) to parents of Lithuanian Jewish background. He studied Law and Literature at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and then did an LL.M. at UCL in International Law. After university he worked as journalist, eventually becoming a travel writer for the Sunday Times and a director/producer for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. A former active member of Peace Now and a member of Birmingham Progressive Synagogue he has briefly lived in Israel and visits as often as he can. He has travelled widely in the Muslim world, including the Palestinian Territories.
Sharon has an MA from Cambridge University in Theology and Religious Studies and in 2016 an MA from Kings College London in Terrorism, Security and Society, specialising in nationalism and religion. After leaving Cambridge she worked in Tunisia teaching English and in Jordan as Productions Manager for a Publishing company and then PA to the defence attaché at the British Embassy. On returning to the UK she worked in Israel/ Palestine conflict resolution, setting up the Solutions not Sides education programme in 2010. Sharon speaks Arabic and French and has studied ancient Hebrew.
Lynn and Dave Morris
Lynn and Dave are well known to Quakers for their enthralling Journeyman Theatre Productions. They are part of the Palestinian Friendship (twinning) Network and for the past 11 years have been visiting the village of Seir to develop joint projects with the women’s cooperative there, raising money through their drama productions and with the support of Stourbridge Quaker meeting to fund improvements to the village school and a variety of Economic enterprises.
