CEQ Climate Emergency Action highlight this West Midlands regional assembly organised by Cllr Olly Armstrong and Climate Action Network West Midlands (CANWM) to take climate justice to the COP26 climate talks in November.
It is an open meeting to “soft launch” a coalition to involve as many people and groups as possible across our region around COP26 in November. Chris Martin, co-clerk of CEQ Climate Emergency Action represented Quakers at a recent planning meeting and feels it is important that there is a strong faith voice at the assembly.
COP26 Coalition recognises that much activity is already taking place in the Midlands – including the Rise to the Moment Relay, XR Faith Bridge Camino, and the Loving Earth Project. However, this assembly has the potential to fill the gap between these communtiy-led activities, and influencing decision makers and make a difference at COP26 in November. Olly is one of the founders of Breathe an organistaion ‘that addresses racial and environmental injustice and the impacts of climate change on communities of colour and the world’ and is working to ensure that COP26 Coalition’s work is truly inclusive.
