Opportunities to volunteer with Restore (a project of Birmingham Churches Together); training from West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership Faith Alliance; and a consultation for the Faith & Belief forum about the future of Interfaith Week.
Restore
Could you befriend a refugee? Befriending is a flexible way to offer welcome and support to refugees and people seeking sanctuary in Birmingham.
Restore’s next training course will be held at St Johns Church, Harborne on 8th February 2025. New volunteers would be matched to a refugee to offer welcome, support, conversational English practice and friendship. This course is necessary for all volunteer befrienders. If you’re not yet sure about befriending, please come along to find out more. There is no obligation to volunteer at the end.
We also welcome volunteers from other organisations or anyone who wants to learn more about refugee issues, even if they don’t intend to volunteer with Restore.
West Midlands Violence Reduction Partnership Faith Alliance
The Violence Reduction Partnership provides support across the region to prevent and reduce violence alongside communities and partners. The Faith Alliance has a key role to play with in that partnership, as we continue working towards preventing and reducing violence in neighbourhoods, protecting our young people, and supporting families to access vital and much needed support.
