The Bundle: an Asylum Seeker’s Journey

24/03/2018, 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

at Walsall Deaf People's Centre, Walsall

A play by Journeymen Theatre based on the true story of a Chechen asylum-seeker.

Presented by Walsall Quakers, Walsall TUC and Black Country Stand Up to Racism

Based closely on the story of a real woman and her three young children, The Bundle follows Adilah’s domestic persecution and denial of human rights in Chechnya.  Removed from her Russian homeland by her Chechen father, abducted into a forced marriage and then subjected to a life of servitude, she takes the ultimate risk in plotting her escape to the UK.  Here she finds a home but also encounters the Home Office’s ‘hostile environment’ towards
asylum- seekers and refugees.

The play lasts for just over an hour and there will be an opportunity for discussion afterwards. There is no charge, but if you can afford it, a donation towards Walsall Refugee and Asylum Seekers Support Association (WRASSA) would be welcome: donation points will be available on the evening.
