at Peace Hub, BirminghamPeople of faith (including Quakers) are taking part in the Extinction Rebellion (XR) action in Westminster 7th-19th October. They will be forming a ‘faith bridge’ along Westminster bridge, bringing prayer flags to support their witness: speaking truth to power about the climate emergency that we face and the urgent action needed.
Amongst others, Claire Bowman (Central England Quakers’ Ecumenical & Interfaith Coordinator) is taking part, and will be taking down prayer flags – this event is an opportunity to make a flag to be taken to the demonstration. This activity is open to everyone, whether you are taking part in person or would like to join in spirit.
Prayer flags come from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, to reflect peace, wisdom and compassion. You are invited to decorate your flag(s) with words, images or abstract design that reflect our concern for the environment and spiritual connection to creation.
Drop in between 11:30am to 1:00pm when an Extinction Rebellion block printer will be on hand to help print flags (and T-shirts if you bring one). The space will remain available until 4:30pm, you are welcome to bring your own craft materials too.
