Now know as Pastoral Care Friends (or similar terms). The term ‘overseer’ was used historically to describe people appointed to looking after the wellbeing of those in a Quaker Meeting. However, in recent years Quaker have reflected on the use of the word in other contexts and it’s associations with slavery.
